How the paver calculator works
The calculator divides the adjusted paved area by the face module of one paver, then rounds the purchase count up.
Pattern choice can create more offcuts than the same paver laid in a running bond. The allowance stays editable because the drawing, not a universal percentage, determines that loss.

Measure the finished paved outline, not the excavation. Base and bedding material use separate depths and separate calculations.
Buy from one production batch when colour variation matters, and retain a few matching units for later repairs.

Does the calculator include the base?
No. It counts pavers; use the road-base and sand calculators for the layers below.
Should the joint reduce the paver count?
It can for a uniform joint, but many quick takeoffs ignore that small credit. Set the joint to zero for the conservative face-only method.
Can I enter a mixed-size pattern?
Use the manufacturer’s square-foot coverage or pattern bundle data rather than pretending every unit is the same size.

A patio covers 180 square feet and uses 8 in by 4 in units with no joint credit and 8% cuts.
