How the square footage calculator works
Square footage is surface area, not perimeter. The calculator converts each measurement to one unit, applies the selected shape formula, and then shows equivalent area units.
Keep separate shapes separate when a room or site is irregular. Calculate each non-overlapping part, add the areas, and only then apply a material-specific waste allowance.

area = π × (diameter ÷ 2)² - Triangle
area = base × perpendicular height ÷ 2 - Convert
1 square yard = 9 square feet

Measure and order square footage
Measure along the same finished plane. A sloped roof face is longer than its horizontal footprint, and a wall area does not include the floor.
